Usually, the FSA plans include a card or issue flex spending, but if yours doesn’t then the only way you can get your reimbursement is to submit your claims through your employer to the FSA provider. To do so you’ll have to keep all the receipts from the services you have brought and provide the detailed receipts alongside proof that you have not submitted a claim for anything that’s been covered by your current insurance plan. To reimburse funds with your Limited Expense HCFSA many times, for certain expenses such as guide dogs, you’d have to have proof that will verify the necessaries of the item in the specific diagnosis whether it’s prevention or treatment for some condition. To be more specific there are three types of eligibility of services and items:
- Items and services that are available for reimbursement
- Items and services that are available for reimbursement with a detailed receipt and a Letter of Medical Necessity which must be signed by your doctor
- Items and services that are available for reimbursement with a prescription by your doctor, in addition to a detailed receipt

The funds of your Limited Expense HCFSA are available from the 1st of January up to 31st December, although, many employers offer either a grace period which will allow you to use the remaining funds on your Limited Expense HCFSA up until the 15th of March, of the following year or the opportunity of a limited roll over up to $500 into the next year.
