Your FSA will cover reading glasses and prescription eyeglasses, as well as contacts. The only FSA-eligible contacts are the ones designed to correct vision problems and not the ones purchased solely to change the eye color, as they are considered to be of cosmetically nature. Never mind that every insurance company can have a different policy regarding the issue of brands and types of correction, most of them will be reimbursable with your FSA. Furthermore, if your children need to update their eyewear, your FSA will cover that too. Let’s remember that the American Optometric Association has recommended that every two years you and your school-aged child should make a visit to the eye doctor. Now, if your child already has some sight problems the story changes, in that case, it’s recommended that you make that visit at least annually. Oh, and don’t worry all of that will be covered by your FSA plan. Furthermore, if you want to protect your child’s sight, I suggest investing in a good pair of reading glasses because hey nowadays children do spend a lot of time in front of the screens.
